Remote, single track, with sections next to drop-offs (these are walkable), a minimum of 450m of climbing. 23km and between 2.5-4 hours of on the trail.

DURATION & DEPARTURE TIME

Trips depart at 7.30am. We’ll pick you up and drop you off at your Rotorua accommodation. 3 hour drive south to where we meet the Helicopter and fly into the Potutu tops where you start your 23km ride back to civilization.
Return to Rotorua 6.00pm

A backcountry adventure combining a scenic helicopter flight with a descent through remote alpine terrain in the Kaimanawa Ranges.

Yes – this ride is for confident intermediate to advanced riders comfortable on steep, natural trails. The trail is for intermediate riders (blue/Grade 3) and above.

Around 1,000 metres of vertical drop with varied terrain over 25km of single track, from tussock tops to native bush.

Over the 25km there is just under 450m of climbing with over 1100m of descent. The climbing is spread out over five main climbs.

Helicopter drop, guiding, lunch and riding snacks, safety briefing, and return transport from Rotorua.

Your bike, phone (camera), protective gear, water, and a backpack or bum bag (fanny pack) with space for lunch and snacks, and a rain jacket. Mountain weather changes fast so it is best to have an extra layer.

Yes, you can choose to bring an electric mountain bike.

Flights are weather-dependent. If it’s unsafe to fly, we’ll reschedule or refund.

Each flight takes a total of 6 people. Broken down into a group of 5 riders and bikes plus the pilot. This is 4 riders plus one guide and one pilot.
