Meet other riders in Rotorua and progress your riding together. Whether you have picked up bad habits over the years or you are new to mountain biking, the best way to take your riding further is with some good information and feedback on what you are doing well (and not so well).
From September through to April, our after work summer skills sessions will get you riding smoother, safer and with more confidence. With separate courses for different ability levels, you will find a group that works for you.

From April though to September, our Saturday Skills Sessions will get you riding smoother, safer and with more confidence. With separate beginners and intermediate skills sessions each month, you can join just one or two, or progress along the whole range of skills clinics and come out of it with a better set of skills so that you can get the most out of your riding. The fundamentals are important to get right whether you are a complete beginner or you are a seasoned pro. This first session we go over the fundamentals to have everyone speaking the same language and to create a solid platform to progress from.
Almost every trail has some kind of a drop in it that you need to be able to deal with. In this session, you will get the tips to unlock drops.
Vision, Body Position, Braking
Cornering is a huge topic to unpack but it’s worth it. We all want to get faster and cornering has a huge part to play in that.
You will learn how get the right speed for any given corner, where your body should be, and key things to think about that will help with any corner anywhere.
There are some key things that are going to help you with getting air, and more importantly, landing and being ready for the next thing that the trail is going to throw at you. Build confidence and learn what you should be doing to take to the air safely.
This is where we put it all together and take a look at some new trail that you want to ride. Ride some trail with the coach and get feedback on your riding while you practice what you have learnt over the month.
Learn how to work the trail for free speed and be in control more of the time. Stop being thrown around by the trail or your bike.
Tips and tricks to help with climbing. Of course, fitness is pretty helpful but that’s not the be-all and end-all.
To go fast, you need to be able to stop. Learning to brake confidently will transform your riding and help you relax, which will take your riding to the next level.
 Want to know how to make the most of a trail to have the most fun? Sessioning sections of trail to play with lines is a good way to start to see what is possible for you and your style.
Body position, speed, line choice, bike position, pumping, sliding, all of the things that make cornering go from scary to fun!
We all have goals. You might be surprised that a struggle for you is quite often a struggle for others as well. Group up and lets go check out a trail together.
Seriously fun. It’s like defensive driving but for mountain biking.
Bike Maintenance – Learn some key things on how to keep your bike running smoothly
Trailside fixes – How to fix common problems that we face out on the trail with limited resources.
Navigation – Learn what’s possible and how to plan and execute the perfect ride for you or your friends and family.
All sessions run from 5.30-7.30pm once a week for four weeks.
Mondays – Novice / Green / Bike Path & Grade 2
Tuesdays – Beginner / Green & Blue / Grade 2 & 3
Wednesdays – Intermediate / Blue / Grade 3 & 4
Thursdays – Advanced / Blue & Black / Grade 4 & 5
